When singer Marilyn Manson came onto the scene, many people suggested that he was the new Alice Cooper, due to their many similarities. With Alice Cooper and Marilyn Manson finally coming together to share the stage, Alice has opened up about how he feels that a collaboration was inevitable.
Cooper explained, "When Manson came out, they said he was the new Alice Cooper — a new Alice for this generation,” Cooper says. “When he first came out, I said, ‘What a great idea: a guy with a girl’s name in makeup. I would have never thought of it.”
He added, "He’s been on my stage, and I’ve been on his stage. We’re not enemies at all. Marilyn Manson’s show is great. He’s a really good showman. ... Put Alice Cooper next to that, and you got a really good show up there."
Alice Cooper is currently in the process of promoting his latest album Welcome 2 My Nightmare, which he worked on with record producer Bob Ezrin, who also helped him produce the 1975 album Welcome to My Nightmare. While many fans are calling Welcome 2 My Nightmare a sequel of sorts, Alice insists that it is more a case of being a new nightmare.
