Swedish actress Alicia Vikander has been making a lot of headlines so far this year, first winning the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance in the movie The Danish Girl, before then being official unveiled as the new Lara Croft for the new Tomb Raider movie. However, before we get too excited about that, Alicia has another new movie coming our way in the very near future.
Alicia Vikander is part of an all star cast in the new movie The Light Between Oceans, which has been officially described as, "A lighthouse keeper and his wife living off the coast of Western Australia raise a baby they rescue from an adrift rowboat." In the movie, Alicia's character goes through a number of miscarriages, and the actress has been talking about playing the role.
Vikander explained, "Actually as an actor I felt that was the most intimidating thing I've ever performed because it's so primal. I had wonderful, you know, people who -- who really helped me to try and make those scenes authentic ... and real. It was interesting to play a character like Isabel because it's hard to judge her."
As well as starring Alicia Vikander, the rest of the cast of The Light Between Oceans also includes Hollywood superstars Michael Fassbender and Rachel Weisz, among others. The Light Between Oceans has been directed by Derek Cianfrance, who also adapted the screenplay for the movie from the M.L. Stedman novel, with the movie set to hit the big screen on September 2 in the US and November 4 in the UK.
