Hollywood actor, writer and director Ben Affleck is enjoying the fact that he has been nominated for Best Director and Best Drama Golden Globes for his movie Argo. However, it has not always been so great for Ben, who went through quiet a difficult time a few years back.
Affleck told USA Today, “When you've been kicked around a little bit, you have greater appreciation for a good thing. There were an awful lot of mornings where I woke up and nobody nominated me for anything. And, there were also times when I woke up and not only was I not getting any good news, but I was getting bad news.”
Ben was given the awards news by his wife Jennifer Garner and he said he felt he deserved to enjoy the good news, “If you're going to deal with the downside, I think it's OK to enjoy the upside. It's definitely been a while for me, in this sense, so it really is exciting. It's exciting.”
Ben Affleck has been receiving huge praise for Argo and, as well as the two nominations already mentioned, Argo is also up for Best Original Score (Alexandre Desplat), Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role (Alan Arkin) and Best Screenplay (Chris Terrio).
