Following the huge success of the hit television series Breaking Bad, AMC decided to go ahead and agree to a spinoff series being made, which focuses on the character Saul Goodman, played by Bob Odenkirk. Better Call Saul is just a few weeks away from its series premiere and a new Better Call Saul trailer was recently released but there are still plenty of rumours about the show going around.
One of the biggest rumours regarding Better Call Saul, is that we will see Bryan Cranston making a cameo appearance in the show, in his familiar role of Walter White, which would no doubt draw in plenty of viewers. With that said, Better Call Saul is set several years before Saul Goodman comes into contact with Walter White, so it does seem unlikely that we would see the character appear.
It has now been confirmed that we will not see Walter White appearing in the first season of Better Call Saul, with Peter Gould saying, "We want this to stand on its own. We don’t want to mislead people in expecting something that’s not going to happen. But having said that everything else is on the table," and Vince Gilligan adding, "We’re not saying it’s never going to happen. I want to see them all eventually show up. The sky’s the limit. But we don’t want it to feel like a stunt when they show up. If it feels like that then we in the writers’ room have done something horribly wrong."
With Better Call Saul already being confirmed for a second season, we could see Bryan Cranston appearing as Walter White in the future but, unfortunately for most fans, we will not see the character appearing in the first season. Better Call Saul season one will premiere on AMC on February 8 at 10/9c. We cannot wait.
