The X-Men movie universe has been growing and growing for the past few years now and, while we are excited about seeing a number of new stars, playing some of our favourite X-Men characters, there was one character in particular that have been dying to see done right on the big screen. While Gambit did appear in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, not many people were a fan of the interpretation and wanted it done right.
There were many delighted fans then, when it was confirmed that Gambit was going to get introduced into the new X-Men movie universe, with many of these fans even more pleased, when it was confirmed that Channing Tatum was going to play the role. Since then, there has been a lot of talk about when we can expect to see Channing make his debut as Gambit, with many suggesting it would be in X-Men: Apocalypse.
However, Channing Tatum recently took part in a Reddit AMA, where he was asked whether he would be playing Gambit in X-Men: Apocalypse. Unfortunately for all the fans eager to see the character debut in the new X-Men movie, Channing made it perfectly clear that this was definitely not going to happen. So it looks like we are going to have to wait for the Gambit solo movie to get our first look at Channing Tatum as Gambit.
Fortunately, we do know a little bit about the Gambit movie and, while we do not know anything about the storyline for the new film, we do know that Rupert Wyatt will be directing the movie, which has a scheduled release date of October 7, 2016. We look forward to it.
