While we did get a version of Gambit on the big screen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, it left most fans rather underwhelmed and wanting a much better version to join the new X-Men movie universe. Fortunately, we will get a new Gambit hitting the big screen, this time being portrayed by Channing Tatum who has become very serious about nailing the character.
Movie producer Reid Carolin has worked with Channing Tatum on a number of movies over the years and he will be on board for the Gambit solo movie. Reid has now opened up about what to expect from the Gambit movie, while sharing that Channing has been working hard on getting the Gambit accent spot on, as well as learning some card tricks.
Carolin was chatting to Screen Rant, when he told them, "[Hearing the accent] probably is a spoiler but you should ask him. I don’t think he has it yet. Last night we were with my friend who I went to college with, this guy David Kwong who is an incredible magician and he was teaching Chan how to throw cards and do slight of hand and all that, so we’re producing that and I’m mostly just writing stuff, both things are female-driven but they’re totally different kinds of stories."
The Gambit standalone movie is set to begin shooting in the Fall, with Rupert Wyatt on directing duties and Channing Tatum taking on the role of Remy LeBeau aka Gambit, and a scheduled release date of October 7, 2016.
Do you think Channing Tatum will make a great Gambit?
