There have been so many big money movie franchises that have come off the back of hit novels but there have not been many that can compete with the Harry Potter franchise, which made billions at the box office. The Harry Potter movie franchise came to an end in 2011 but there has been plenty of talk about potentially getting more of Harry Potter in the future.
Hollywood legend Chris Columbus directed the first three Harry Potter movies and he has admitted that he would love to return to do some future Harry Potter films, should the opportunity arise. Chris says that there is still plenty of the Harry Potter story left to tell and would love to be the man to translate it onto the big screen.
Columbus explained, "I would love to go back and do another one. I would love to do another movie with those three characters - Harry, Hermione and Ron. I'm just fascinated about what happened to them after the end of the last movie because then they cut to 18 years ahead. There's 18 years there of great Harry Potter stories."
While it does not seem that there are too many plans to make any more Harry Potter books or movies in the near future, J.K. Rowling has been working on the big screen adaptation of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which features British actor Eddie Redmayne in the lead role, with a release date set for November 18, 2016 in both the US and the UK.
