There was once a time when it looked like Daniel Radcliffe would be forever only remember as being Harry Potter in the hugely successful movie franchise. However, over the course of the past few years, Daniel has been taking on some very intriguing acting roles, in some very interesting movie projects, and it seems that he has even more coming our way in the future.
Daniel Radcliffe will next appear on the big screen in the new movie Imperium, which sees the talented star playing the role of an undercover FBI agent who finds himself becoming involved in a white supremacist group. Daniel did a huge amount of research for his role in the movie and he has been talking about his research on the Nazis and how it influenced his performance.
Radcliffe explained, "I would have people round to hang out and would suddenly become aware that, oh s**t – they’ve probably seen my pile of Nazi books. Should I explain to them... but they might not have seen it – they haven’t mentioned it... but what if they have seen it and are just not mentioning it?"
As well as talking about the fact that he was a bit worried by what his friends and family might think about his research into the Nazis, Daniel Radcliffe also went on to talk about what he actually did manage to take from the experience. Daniel says that he can now understand how people can become so deeply involved in some of these groups, even the most extreme of them.
Radcliffe added, "Imagine if you’ve lost your job, your wife has left you and somebody comes up to you and says: ‘Actually you didn’t lose your job because you’re crap and your wife didn’t leave you because she doesn’t love you any more – it’s all a gigantic conspiracy against us as white people.' Their worldview becomes incredibly simple and nothing is complicated anymore."
Imperium has been released in some parts of the US already and is also out now in the UK.
