Following the news that Sir Alex Ferguson had decided to quit as Manchester United manager and retire from the game, there was a lot of talk about which manager should come in to replace him. The name David Moyes was mentioned by a few people so, when it was revealed that Moyes had in fact been given the Manchester United managers job, there were no real surprises.
However, things have not gone very well for David Moyes during his early Manchester United career and the club now look highly unlikely to miss out on the top four of the English Premier League, meaning they miss out on Champions League football next season. With a handful of games left this season, former Manchester United star David Beckham has agreed to come out of retirement to help the club.
David Beckham retired from football last Summer and has been trying to get his very own football team off the ground in Miami in the US. However, following a long chat with David Moyes, a number of his backroom staff and Sir Alex Ferguson himself, David Beckham has agreed to put his boots back on and lead Manchester United back up the table.
It has been claimed that, if David Beckham puts in good enough performances over the course of the final games of the season, then David Moyes might even be tempted to offer him a one year contract for next season. Whether he would also agree to that or not will remain to be seen, but we look forward to seeing him back in a Manchester United shirt.
