While there are a lot of people who would agree that Victoria Beckham was arguably the least talented singer in the Spice Girls, it is fair to say that she has gone on to become the most successful of them all since the girlband split up. While Victoria did briefly try her hand at a solo career, she has gone on to become one of the top fashion designers in the business.
Now it looks like her husband David Beckham has decided to follow in her footsteps, by designing his own range for leather brand Belstaff. While promoting his new collection at the Belstaff store in Madison Avenue, New York, David spoke about becoming a fashion designer, admitting that he will always be second best to Victoria Beckham in that department.
Beckham told WWD, "She would definitely win. (What she's) created and achieved in a few short years, going from a Spice Girl to a respected fashion designer. It's really inspiring to see. Belstaff asked me if I'd be interested in designing a capsule collection, and I said yes."
He added, "With the history and heritage of the brand, it was an easy decision. It's what I wear and what I like. It's cross-generational and cross-nationalities. It's working quite well. He really feels the brand."
We wonder how long it will be before one of the little Beckham children, Harper Seven Beckham, Brooklyn Joseph Beckham, Romeo James Beckham, or Cruz David Beckham, follow in the footsteps of their parents and start a clothing collection of their own. Only time will tell. Watch this space.
