Following the huge global success of the novel Fifty Shades of Grey, it was no surprise when it was announced that the book was being adapted into a movie. From the moment that the Fifty Shades of Grey movie was announced, fans all over the world began giving their views as to which stars should play which characters and there was quite the list of actors being suggested for the role of Christian Grey.
First, Sons of Anarchy actor Charlie Hunnam was cast in the role but, when he decided to pull out of the project, model turned actor Jamie Dornan was brought in as his replacement. There were a lot of disappointed fans with the casting and there still seems to be a few disgruntled fans but Jamie has shrugged off the negativity surrounding his casting and has compared playing Christian Grey to playing a superhero.
Dornan explained, "The other day, this woman came up and started shouting at me, 'Matt Bomer's the real Christian Grey'. And I was like, um, okay. I mean, even if you cast Matt Bomer, or Alexander Skarsgård, or Charlie Hunnam, or any of those other guys, we'd all just be doing our best, you know? Christian Grey - he isn't a real person. He's a superhero - a myth. He's like Bigfoot! He's unbelievable. He's unattainable. There's no actor in the world who could live up to that."
The Fifty Shades of Grey cast will see Jamie Dornan sharing the big screen with actress Dakota Johnson and a supporting cast including Rita Ora, Jennifer Ehle, Luke Grimes, and Marcia Gay Harden, among others. Fifty Shades of Grey is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and opens on Valentine's Day.
