South Korean actress Han Hyo Joo surprised many of her fans when she decided to play the role of an adventurous detective in the 2013 film “Cold Eyes”: a remake of the 2007 Chinese movie “Eye in the Sky”.
This South Korean version is filled with countless of action and mystery scenes. Han portrays the role of Rookie: a young woman who joins the "Korean Police Forces Special Crime Department" and helps track a dangerous organization leader. Ms. Joo acted alongside an A-list of acting veterans, such as Sol Kyung-gu and Jung Woo-sung. For this film, Hyo won the award for best actress in the “22nd Buil Film Awards” and also won in the category of best leading actress in the “34th Blue Dragon Film Awards”.
“Cold Eyes” was one of the biggest grossing films in South Korea this year. Since its release on July 3, 2013, it has managed to gross over $34 million USD. It was such a success in its native land that it made its way into North America—it was screened in the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival and obtained favorable reviews from critics.
At this moment, this 26 year old brunette is enjoying a lot of success in her country and endorsing famous companies, such as Acuvue, Daum Communications and Good Downloader Campaign, which have made her richer. For 2014, it has been reported that Han will make guest appearances in a couple of different variety shows, in South Korea, to promote upcoming projects.
