Seriously, what on Earth is going on with Warner Bros. and their very poorly executed DC Extended Universe? It has been on a downward spiral for years now and just when you think the future could well be bright and that we could well see the DCEU enjoying a change in fortunes, something else comes up that makes us wish that they would just go back to the drawing board and give the whole thing a complete reboot.
The Man of Steel movie was supposed to open the door for the DCEU and set up a number of future movies that could rival what we have seen with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Man of Steel was less than impressive, while the Batman v Superman film was average at best. Suicide Squad had a lot of potential but again failed to deliver and we have been hearing that there have been some major problems with the Wonder Woman movie and the Justice League movie.
One of the things that we were looking forward to, hopeful that it could save the DCEU, was the planned The Batman movie, with Ben Affleck reprising his role as Bruce Wayne aka Batman, as well as having a hand in the script, while also producing the movie and even directing the film. Ben has made it perfectly clear that he wants to give the fans the perfect Batman movie that they deserve but it looks like it is all going wrong, just like the rest of the DCEU.
Ben Affleck has now stepped down as the director of The Batman, which is the first issue, as Warner Bros. scramble to find a new director. Meanwhile, there have been claims that the script is not to the studios liking, which has led to new writers being brought on board for some redrafts. Finally, there have been suggestions that all these changes could well push Ben Affleck to walk away from the role.
Not long ago, we were very excited for The Batman movie but now, with Ben Affleck seemingly being pushed out or not wanting involvement with the project, it seems that The Batman could be the final nail in the DCEU coffin.
