There has always been a strong Bollywood influence on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival over the years, with the likes of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Soonam Kapoor taking to the red carpet for the cosmetics brand L'Oreal. Now, another Bollywood star follows in their footsteps, with Katrina Kaif being confirmed to walk the Cannes Film Festival red carpet this year.

L'Oreal made the official announcement early in the month, taking to their official Twitter account to reveal their delight at having Katrina Kaif on board, saying, "We're thrilled to announce our stunning brand ambassador Katrina Kaif, will be walking the Red Carpet at Cannes this year."
Meanwhile, Katrina Kaif herself has opened up about walking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, admitting that she was excited about the prospect, although she would not be worrying too much about what the fashion critics will say about her. Katrina says that she is not going there to start any trends and will just try her best to enjoy the occasion.

Kaif explained, "Criticism is there wherever you go. I am not a designer or a fashion editor that I need to know every trend. I am an actor and this is a part of my job. Their job is to comment. So I hope we all can co-exist peacefully. But no point thinking about it from now only. There is always another day. It is not the end of the world. Try and enjoy the moment. Because if you are so caught up in the pressures and stresses, when you look back you realise you didn't enjoy that time, you didn't appreciate the place you were."
The Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 13 until May 24. We look forward to seeing what other familiar faces we will see on the red carpet.
