It seems that some people really cannot let go, especially when it comes to a movie franchise which has been done to death and really does not need any more new films added to it. For us, one of those movie franchises is the Terminator movies, which gave us two fantastic movies to begin with, but since then has gone on to disappoint in a big way, with even the 2015 movie Terminator Genisys being less than impressive.
The original Terminator movie, followed by Terminator 2: Judgement Day, were both great films, with great characters, which lost its way ever since. However, a lot of fans feel that the reason the Terminator movies begin to flop is due to the fact that James Cameron sold the rights to the movie franchise, so now that he has them back and wants to work on a new Terminator movie, it could well get back to its best.
James Cameron has been talking about the fact that he wants to make a new Terminator movie, insisting that the new film will act as a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgement Day. As well as having Arnold Schwarzenegger on board to return as the Terminator, James has also confirmed that he has Linda Hamilton back to reprise her role as Sarah Connor, which does seem to have got a few fans excited.
Cameron shared, "As meaningful as she was to gender and action stars everywhere back then, it's going to make a huge statement to have that seasoned warrior that she's become return. There are 50-year-old and 60-year-old guys out there killing bad guys but there isn't an example of that for women. We're starting a search for an 18-something woman to be the new centerpiece of the new story. We still fold time. We will have characters from the future and the present. There will be mostly new characters, but we'll have Arnold and Linda's characters to anchor it."
With James Cameron acting as a producer on the new Terminator movie, Deadpool director Tim Miller will take the helm. While there are no plot details and no news of when production will start, it is expected that the new Terminator film will open some time in 2019.
