It seems that there is a new "It" actress who emerges in Hollywood every year and, the actress who has been getting a lot of attention over the past few months or so, is the beautiful and talented Australian actress Margot Robbie, who has been landing a lot of big and exciting roles. Margot will play the role of Harley Quinn in the Suicide Squad movie, as well as playing Jane in the new Tarzan film.
Margot Robbie would be perfect as Barbie
Now, it looks like Margot Robbie is in line to land another big movie role, as she is being tipped to play the lead role in the planned Barbie movie. There has been talks of a possible Barbie movie being made for many years now and it looks like it is finally moving in the right direction, with Margot expected to play Barbie on the big screen.
Doug Belgrad, the president of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group, explained, "As far as who would play Barbie probably an ingenue. I like Margot Robbie, for instance. Or possibly a discovery." Meanwhile, producer Laurie MacDonald also admitted that she would love to have Margot Robbie as Barbie, adding, "She is Barbie come to life - she'd be great."
Margot Robbie has become a very in demand actress
These were not the only ones to back Margot Robbie as Barbie though, as Hannah Minghella, co-president of production at Sony's Columbia Pictures division, seemed to imply that the Australian actress could already be on board for the project, "(We) pitched Margot the idea for Barbie and she loved it! She's free in October once she wraps Tarzan," she said.
It will be interesting to see how the Barbie movie develops from here and whether we will see Margot Robbie taking on the role. Watch this space!
