It is hard to believe that Ryan Gosling has been working in Hollywood for as long as he has, giving us some fantastic performances along the way, yet has never managed to get his hands on a Golden Globe, despite being nominated five times ... until now.
Ryan Gosling has picked up the Golden Globe for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, for his performance in the new movie La La Land, which is a fantastic film. During his acceptance speech, Ryan took the time to dedicate his win to his wife Eva Mendes, and the memory of her brother Juan Carlos Mendes, who has passed away after a battle with cancer.
Gosling did the usual speech of thanking those who had worked on La La Land with him, before then going on to dedicate the award to Mendes, saying, "While I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer."
He then went on to add, "If she hadn’t taken all of that on so I could have this experience, it would surely be someone else up here other than me today, so, sweetheart, thank you. To my daughters Amada and Esmeralda, I love you. If I may, I’d like to dedicate this to the memory of her brother, Juan Carlos Mendes."
Congratulations Ryan Gosling, you truly are one of the most wonderful people in Hollywood and deserve all the success in the world.
