There is no denying that there is a clear sexual inequality issue in Hollywood at the moment and many of the stars have been keen to come out and voice their opinion on the issue. The latest star to give their views on sexual inequality in Hollywood is Salma Hayek and it is clear that Salma feels like things have to change and soon.
Hayek explained, "The amount of pressure on women now, it’s crazy. You have to be much better than your male colleagues, just so you can maybe try and get the same salary as them. And you still have to be a good wife and mother. And now you also have to be skinny, and you have to look 20 when you’re 40. It’s too much. We need to stop with the crazy expectations, give ourselves a break."
She added, "I still pay the same bills I always paid, and I understand I have to hit a certain mark with what money I make, to pay them. If you took my bills away from me, that would feel strange. I think it is part of what gives me confidence, to work, to know I can pay them. I would die if I did nothing but manicures and lunches. That would be a nightmare to me."
As far as her acting career is concerned, Salma Hayek is now considered one of the biggest and most successful actresses in the business, with a number of projects coming our way in the coming years. As well as appearing in the upcoming movies Septembers of Shiraz, The Tale of Tales, and the animated movie Sausage Party, Salma is also a producer on the planned ABC series Wicked. Keep up the good work Selma!
