Scotty McCreery hasn't faded into the background after winning 2011's American Idol. Rather, he has decided to enroll in North Carolina State University while continuing to work on his music. However, McCreery's fame is not to be underestimated; in a new interview with the Chicago Tribune, he reveals that he's constantly asked for autographs and photos even at his university.
He explains, "It happens pretty frequently. For the most part, they come up to me apologetically, like, ‘So sorry to bother you,' (and I'll say) ‘It's all good, man.' It's before or after class, not during. They know class is class.”
McCreery reveals his schedule while at college, which includes classes from Monday to Wednesday, and then touring and working on his music for the remainder of the week.
McCreery's debut album, 'Clear As Day', debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard 200 and he also opened for Brad Paisley's 'Virtual Reality Tour', so it's clear that his fame won't go anywhere for a while. In the same interview with the Tribune, he reveals that although he doesn't really have a back-up career plan to music, he decided to go to college because he feels that it's good to be well-rounded in other things. Spoken like a smart young man who knows what he's doing, something that's rare to find in the music industry.
