Multi-talented superstar Selena Gomez has become one of the biggest stars on the face of the planet, making a name for herself in both the music industry and on the acting scene, showing that not all child stars go off the rails. Selena rose to fame as a Disney child star, before going on to prove that she could do it on her own.
Selena Gomez has now opened up about growing up in the spotlight, talking about the fact that she did not really get to have much of a normal childhood. However, Selena has admitted that she has no regrets, as this is the life she chose for herself.
Gomez explained, "I didn't have an opportunity to figure out my life without people having an opinion every step of the way. (But), I chose this. So I'm not gonna sit here and say, 'Oh, my God, poor me, I didn't have a normal childhood.' I don't give a f**k about that. I think the beginning of my career, it was very tailored, it was very precise."
She added, "Sharing the vulnerable, raw, messy side wasn't necessarily encouraged. I think the definition of strength is being vulnerable and being honest. That doesn't mean you have to be like, 'I'm strong I'm amazing, look at me'; you can have those moments but you won't have those moments unless you're like, 'I've been broken, I've felt things and messed up a lot and I'm OK saying that'."
Selena Gomez recently admitted that she was a little reluctant to talk about the most personal parts of her life in her music, until her good friend Taylor Swift encouraged her to embrace it and share it with her fans.
