British boyband The Wanted have been trying their hardest to knock One Direction off their pedestal and they are hoping that their new album will get them that little bit closer. Singer Siva Kaneswaran says that the new album will be sensible pop rather than cheesy boyband music.
Siva told Digital Spy, "The next album is our first international release and it's taken us two long years. I think it's our best album yet. It's very personal to us and has hit after hit after hit on it. I did a song with Rita [Ora]," he continued. "I literally just spoke to her and her manager and was like, 'Listen, I'll send you the edit'. When she hears it, she's going to love it."
He added, "Our last album was a bit mid-tempo and we looked at it like loads of boyband songs. When you hear these songs you're going to think, 'These songs will break'. And not like cheesy boyband, but pop-rock. We call it sensible pop."
The Wanted are working on finishing up their new album, which will be their third studio album and is expected to be released in September. The Wanted's latest single Walks Like Rihanna was released in the UK earlier this week.
