Following years of comic book movie fans calling for Sony to return Spider-Man to Marvel, so that the character could join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and hopefully give us the Spider-Man film we have been craving, they finally gave in and we got our first look at Tom Holland as Peter Parker aka Spider-Man in the movie Captain America: Civil War. Next up, is the standalone movie Spider-Man: Homecoming, which has put together a very exciting cast indeed.
One of the most talked about casting choices for Spider-Man: Homecoming, was that of the beautiful and talented Zendaya, who was reportedly going to play a character named Michelle, which led to a lot of talk and speculation about the character. Well, it has now been reported that Marvel were trying to pull the wool over our eyes, and that Zendaya will in fact play the role of the iconic Spider-Man love interest Mary Jane Watson.
Initially people dismissed the reports, claiming that it was all just rumour and there was no truth in it, but then it was claimed that the plan was to keep the identity of the character a secret, bringing on a big reveal at the end of the movie. Now, fans are really beginning to buy into these claims that Zendaya is playing Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and we are all awaiting an official announcement from Marvel.
As well as starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, the rest of the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming includes the likes of Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Laura Harrier, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr., and Michael Keaton. Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to hit the big screen on July 7, 2017 in both the US and the UK.
