Following, days, weeks, months and years of fans calling for Sony to allow Spider-Man to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe the studio have finally allowed Marvel Studios to use the character in their films. This has led to a huge amount of excitement among comic book movie fans around the world and there are now only a handful of characters that Marvel cannot yet use.
The characters from The X-Men and the Fantastic Four stories are owned by Fox and, considering the amount of recent success they have enjoyed, along with the list of films they have lined up for the future, we will not see any of the characters appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe any time soon. However, Hugh Jackman, who plays the role of Wolverine in the X-Men movies, would love to see his character follow Spider-Man to the MCU.
Jackman explained, "There’s so many forces at play there, man, beyond what anyone would want. The thing I’ve always loved about the comic-book world is how the fun thing was how a writer of a comic book could just pull all these characters together and what became a Friday-night discussion of 'it would be cool to see Iron Man fight Wolverine' and bang, Monday morning they’re working on it, you know. But that’s an idealized world."
As much as we would love to see Wolverine and the rest of the X-Men guys, as well as the Fantastic Four characters, appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is hugely unlikely that it will ever happen.
